ALMM Explained: Why Your Solar Panels Must Be Government-Approved to Qualify for Subsidy

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy maintains the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) — a government-published list of solar panel models and manufacturers that meet quality and domestic-manufacturing requirements for use in government-linked solar projects.

For any homeowner applying for the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana subsidy, this matters directly: only systems built with ALMM-listed panels are eligible for the central subsidy and for DISCOM net-metering approval on subsidy-linked connections. A system built with a non-listed panel can be rejected at the inspection stage, even after installation.
